The City of Ottawa has worked very hard to understand what
happens throughout the city as flood waters rise. They have used stream
gauge correlation with field reconnaissance during a number of flooding
events to develop a flood action plan. This plan looks at and
establishes the “who, what, when, where, and why” of flooding within the
City of Ottawa. It lays out a detailed protocol and procedure of what
has to be done and at what stage/elevation during a flooding event.

The City of Ottawa also has worked with a number of agencies to
develop a flood inundation map/model. This allows for users to look at
locations within the City and analyze the extent and depth of water
inundation at specific gauge elevations and increments. This tool can
